Yes, we can work with your fabric. However, we will not offer any warranty or be responsible for the condition or quality of your fabric. Our craftsmen at Genuine Upholstery take the utmost care to provide you with the best possible results when using the fabric you provide.

4. Do you supply fabric?

Yes, we do! We offer a large collection of fabrics ranging from basic to highly decorative designer options. We also have leather and vinyl samples from professional upholstery fabric mills.

5. Which fabric should I use?

The choice of fabric depends on your needs and preferences. At Genuine Upholstery, we provide consultation to help you select the fabric that suits your needs, whether you prefer specific patterns, colors, or textures. Consider factors such as durability, cleanability, and ease of maintenance when choosing fabric. For example, solid colour light fabrics will appear dirty before mid-tone patterned fabrics. Dark colours will make lint and dust more obvious, and solid colour fabric with no texture will show stains more easily. Ultimately, the choice is yours. When you come in, you’ll get a consultation with our team to choose the fabric that suits your needs.

6. What is pattern matching?

Pattern matching refers to ensuring that patterned fabrics align seamlessly across the furniture piece. All patterned fabrics have a repeated pattern down their lengths and match horizontally across their width. This ensures uniformity and aesthetic appeal in the final upholstery.

7. Do you strip the furniture before you reupholster?

Absolutely. We strip the furniture down to the frame, inspecting and repairing any underlying issues such as broken woodwork, springs, or padding before beginning the reupholstering process.

8. If you find broken framework, do you repair it?

Yes, we do. A sturdy frame is essential for both structural integrity and comfort. Before any upholstery work begins, we thoroughly inspect the frame and notify you if any repairs are necessary to ensure safety and durability.

9. What is involved in reupholstering my furniture?

We start by removing the old covering and filling down to the bare frame. After inspecting and repairing the frame as needed, we replace worn components such as springs and padding before tracing, cutting, and applying new fabric. Lastly, your furniture undergoes a final inspection before going home to you. If any additional changes or repairs are necessary, we’ll contact you to find the right option and pricing for you.

10. Do you repair woodwork?

Yes, we have a fully equipped shop for refinishing, touch-ups, wood replacement, and caning repairs to address any woodwork issues.

11. How long does it take to reupholster?

The typical turnaround time is two to three weeks. If we anticipate that your project will take us longer than that, we will inform you before starting the project.

12. My furniture still looks good, but the cushions are not as comfortable as I would like them to be. What can be done?

If your furniture’s fabric looks good but the cushions have lost their shape or comfort, replacing them can rejuvenate your furniture. We offer various options such as high-density foam core cushions, down-filled cushions, dacron wrap, and spring-down cushions to restore comfort and appearance.

13. Can I change the style of my furniture?

Absolutely. Depending on the frame, there are several modifications we can make to update the look of your furniture. From altering skirt lengths to changing upholstery style or arms and legs, our craftsmen can help you achieve the desired look and style for your sofa or chair.

14. Do you provide pick-up and delivery service?

Yes, at Genuine Upholstery, we offer pick-up and delivery services with a service fee for your convenience.

15. Do you give quotes over the phone?

Unfortunately, we cannot give you a quote over the phone. Unless we physically look examine your furniture. You are welcome to either send us pictures via e-mail at info@perfectupholstery.ca or book an appointment with us and bring the furniture to our Perfect Upholstery shop, or make an appoitment for us to visit your place.
